Baylor College of Medicine Gastroenterology & Hepatology Board Review Course 2019

This course is designed for physicians, trainees, and health professionals with interest or clinical practice in
Gastroenterology and Hepatology. This course will serve as an update on the latest diagnostic and therapeutic
issues in GI and Hepatology.
This program has been developed using a combination of lecture and case based curriculumdesigned to serve as
an intensive review tool for GI and Hepatology Board Certification/ Re-Certification Examination in 2019.
Objectives
At the conclusion of the activity, participants should be able to:
• Summarize the strategies for the management of IBS-D
• Discuss early detection of esophageal cancer and effective screening methods for high risk
patients
• Identify tailored approaches to optimizing medical therapy in inflammatory bowel disease
• Discuss current therapy options for patients with viral hepatitis and drugs in the clinical
development pipeline
• Discuss the management of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and implement the appropriate
management strategies in clinical practice
• Identify appropriate diagnostic testing and treatment for H. pylori infection
• Implement treatment algorithms for clarithromycin resistant H pylori infection
• Interpret the results of Hepatitis B serologic testing and apply to determine appropriate treatment
